He may wear T-Shirt once and then it may not mean much. Engraved drum sticks with your name on them would be cherished for a long. Think, on stage or when he plays the drums he sees this and that will make him think of you and help him to do better.

I vote for engraved ....

I really like the engraved drumsticks idea. I looked at the other two options, and I don't personally know him, of course, but I think a 14-year-old boy would really like drumsticks engraved. You know he's going to use them, so then every time he plays he can think of you! Hope this helps! :)

The Finger Drums would be a great idea. It's cute and thoughtful, and I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

Engraved drum sticks is another good option- you could have them say something cute like "you make my heart skip a beat". K I know that was really lame and cheesy, but hopefully you get my point.

I'd avoid the shirt though, cuz it might be creepy for him when somebody comes up and pokes his chest....

Good Luck :D

I'm obviously prejudiced and have not been to fort drum.

But Fort Bragg is known as the Center of the Universe for a reason....

Not only is 18ABC and the 82nd located here, it's also home to US Army Special Operations Command, the Special Warfare Center and School, Delta Force, etc. The 82nd is prepared to deploy anywhere in the world within 18 hours of notification by airborne assault. No other conventional unit has that capability. Its pretty go-go-go alright

Since 9/11, the 82nd and it's subordinate units have deployed very frequently but usually for shorter than a year, i.e. 4 months to provide security for elections.

Maybe you could get a CD of music and you could ask the kids to try and drum along with the beat of the song. You could play along too if you wish.

You could play Simon Says with the drums. Like "Simon says drum as fast as you can!" or "Keep a beat with your elbows!" or "Simon says stop drumming!" et cetera...

You could break the kids off into groups and they could quickly write drum songs to perform to the other kids (this may work better with slightly older kids.) Each member of the group would have a different rhythm to play: bass, melody, harmony...

Or you could do a variation of a pattern game with the drums. One person leaves and everyone else sits in a circle. You secretly choose one person in the circle to be the leader, and they start to play a drum beat. Everyone else follows the leader. The guesser comes back in and stands in the middle of the circle, looking at everyone. When the guesser's not looking, the leader will try and change the beat (and then everyone else will follow). The guesser will have to try and figure out who the leader is.

And doing a repeat after me game sounds fine! I think that would be great because you could make it easier or more challenging for the different aged kids.
